piri reis

A brief history lesson …

In the 16th century, admiral and cartographer Piri Reis (turkish guy) decided to draw the map of the world (from that century).
On the map we can see a piece of the western europe and northern africa … as they were in 1513.
The map is drawn on gazelle skin and there’s only one portion of it left …

I added a picture of the actual map for those interested.

I guess i should start drawing too …

new category

February 8th, 2007

Well, i’ve thought about it and now i’m joining this part of the world (which seems superior, for my pride), and it would be a good idea for me to have a say in all of this.

So i’m making the “Companies” category in which i’ll present some companies that i respect and obviously i’ll be a harsh critic with those that make this country worse than it already is.

Wish me luck.

Sharkey’s 3D Pool

February 8th, 2007

Again from the “first games played by Piry” series i bring forward a very fine pool game, Sharkey’s 3D Pool.
Created in 1990 by MicroPlay Software, it makes me wonder when the hell did 3D applications appear.
But maybe some other time, now let’s see the game.

The way the balls move on the table doesn’t seem unreal, so it’s very allright at that chapter.

Two viewpoints are available, the birdeye (above the table) or 3D (from the cue’s viewpoint).

You can bet money … so a “Best Players” list can exist …

I don’t have much to tell about this game, because the sound part is ok, the graphics are ok (i didn’t expect to be able to play pool in these conditions but it’s actually pretty nice), and you can play without a mouse …
A terrific game.
